अगर आप IIT Madras BS in Data Science and Applications कर रहे हैं, तो हो सकता है कि आपके मन में एक सवाल आया हो: क्या BS Degree पूरी करने के बाद IIT Madras से ही AI और Machine Learning में आगे पढ़ सकते हैं?
इसका जवाब है हाँ. IIT Madras के current academic structure में BS Degree के बाद PG Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning और उसके बाद M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning तक आगे बढ़ने का option मौजूद है.
लेकिन यह कोई अलग admission लेकर शुरू किया जाने वाला सामान्य postgraduate programme नहीं है. यह IIT Madras के existing BS Degree programme का आगे का academic pathway है, जिसमें आपको पहले BS Degree की requirements पूरी करनी होती हैं और फिर eligibility criteria के अनुसार अगले level में जाना होता है.
इस article में हम पूरा pathway, minimum CGPA, courses, credits, duration और fees को समझेंगे, ताकि आप अपनी planning सही तरीके से कर सकें.
IIT Madras BS in Data Science and Applications programme में कुल छह academic levels हैं. BS Degree प्राप्त करने के लिए पहले चार levels पूरे करने होते हैं. इसके बाद eligible students PG Diploma और M.Tech की तरफ आगे बढ़ सकते हैं.
Official academic structure के अनुसार BS Degree के लिए 142 credits, PG Diploma तक पहुंचने के लिए कुल 162 credits और M.Tech तक पहुंचने के लिए कुल 182 credits पूरे करने होते हैं.
यहां ध्यान रखें कि PG Diploma के लिए BS Degree के बाद 20 additional credits होते हैं. इसके बाद M.Tech के लिए 20 और credits का M.Tech Project पूरा करना होता है.

BS Degree पूरी कर लेना इस pathway का पहला बड़ा step है. लेकिन इसका मतलब यह नहीं है कि हर BS graduate automatically PG Diploma में upgrade कर सकता है.
IIT Madras की official website के अनुसार, PG Diploma level में जाने के लिए learner को BS Degree level के सभी courses successfully complete करने होते हैं और minimum CGPA 8.0 की eligibility पूरी करनी होती है.
Programme की academic information यह भी बताती है कि upgrade के लिए apply करते समय Degree level के सभी core course requirements और लागू CGPA requirements पूरी होनी चाहिए.
इसलिए अगर आप अभी Foundation, Diploma या BSc level पर हैं, तो सिर्फ credits पूरे करने पर ध्यान न दें. BS level तक पहुंचने के बाद अपनी academic performance और official upgrade requirements को भी ध्यान में रखें.
एक important बात यह है कि eligibility की final confirmation के लिए उस term की official programme instructions देखनी चाहिए, जिसमें आप upgrade के लिए apply करना चाहते हैं.
PG Diploma level पर focus advanced AI और Machine Learning concepts तथा उनके practical applications पर होता है. Official curriculum में इस level के लिए कुल 20 credits हैं, जिनमें तीन core courses और दो electives शामिल हैं.
इन तीनों core courses को पूरा करना mandatory है. इनके अलावा students को उपलब्ध electives में से दो courses चुनने होते हैं.

हर elective हर term में उपलब्ध हो, यह जरूरी नहीं है. इसलिए अपनी रुचि के अनुसार courses चुनने से पहले current term की availability और prerequisites जरूर check करें.
PG Diploma को complete करने के बाद आपके पास दो options होते हैं. आप IIT Madras से PG Diploma in AI & ML लेकर exit कर सकते हैं या M.Tech level की requirements पूरी करने के लिए आगे बढ़ सकते हैं.
PG Diploma complete करने के बाद अगला step M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning है.
IIT Madras की official academic page के अनुसार, M.Tech level में registration के लिए PG Diploma level के सभी 20 credits successfully complete करना जरूरी है. यानी आप PG Diploma की requirements पूरी किए बिना सीधे इस M.Tech project level में नहीं जा सकते.
यह pathway उन students के लिए useful हो सकता है जो AI और Machine Learning में सिर्फ courses करने तक सीमित नहीं रहना चाहते, बल्कि किसी substantial technical problem पर project work भी करना चाहते हैं.
M.Tech level में कुल 20 credits का mandatory M.Tech Project है. Official programme information के अनुसार, project Machine Learning और AI के broad areas में किया जाता है.
एक खास बात यह है कि students project किसी company या research lab में भी कर सकते हैं. इससे अपने interest के अनुसार practical problem पर काम करने का अवसर मिल सकता है, हालांकि project की requirements और evaluation programme के applicable rules के अनुसार होंगे.
Programme requirements पूरी करने के बाद learner को IIT Madras से BS + M.Tech qualification मिलती है. यह समझना जरूरी है कि यहां M.Tech एक standalone admission route के बजाय existing BS programme के आगे का pathway है.

अब सबसे practical सवाल पर आते हैं. अगर आप BS Degree के बाद PG Diploma और फिर M.Tech करना चाहते हैं, तो कुल खर्च कितना हो सकता है?

ये cumulative programme totals हैं. उदाहरण के लिए, ₹4.86 lakh से ₹5.90 lakh PG Diploma तक की पूरी journey का published total है, जिसमें BS Degree तक का खर्च भी शामिल है. इसी तरह ₹6.86 lakh से ₹7.90 lakh M.Tech तक के पूरे pathway का total है, न कि सिर्फ M.Tech Project की अलग fee.
इसलिए अगर आपने BS Degree पहले ही complete कर ली है, तो अपनी आगे की fees समझने के लिए केवल इन cumulative figures को additional cost न मानें. Actual payable amount आपके applicable fee structure और पहले से पूरे किए गए levels पर depend करेगा.
एक और जरूरी बात: ये revised figures उन learners के लिए हैं जिन्होंने January 2026 Term onwards Foundation level से programme join किया है. September 2025 Term तक join करने वाले students के लिए official website पर existing fee structure का अलग link दिया गया है.

IIT Madras का programme flexible pace पर चलता है. Students हर term में अपनी eligibility और Credit Clearing Capability के अनुसार courses register कर सकते हैं.
Official academic structure में PG Diploma के लिए indicative duration 1 से 2 years दिया गया है. M.Tech project के लिए programme की timeline Foundation level से programme शुरू करने के आठ साल के overall completion window के भीतर है.
इसका मतलब यह नहीं है कि हर student को exactly इतने ही साल लगेंगे. आपका actual duration course load, academic performance, project progress और available terms पर depend करेगा.
अगर आप पहले से job कर रहे हैं या किसी दूसरे college में पढ़ रहे हैं, तो अपनी weekly availability देखकर plan बनाना बेहतर होगा. सिर्फ जल्दी complete करने के लिए एक term में ज्यादा courses register करना हमेशा सही strategy नहीं होती.
इसका answer आपके career goal पर depend करता है.
अगर आपका मुख्य उद्देश्य AI और Machine Learning में advanced coursework करना है, तो PG Diploma पर exit करना भी एक option है. इसमें MLOps, Generative AI, Algorithms for Data Science और अपनी पसंद के electives पर काम करने का अवसर मिलता है.
दूसरी तरफ, अगर आप किसी बड़े AI/ML project पर काम करना चाहते हैं और programme की M.Tech requirements पूरी कर सकते हैं, तो आगे बढ़ना आपके लिए relevant हो सकता है.
लेकिन सिर्फ qualification का नाम देखकर decision न लें. पहले यह सोचें कि आपको किस तरह का work पसंद है, आप कितना समय दे सकते हैं और आपके long-term goals क्या हैं.
AI या Machine Learning में career बनाने के लिए qualification के साथ practical implementation, programming, mathematical understanding और real-world problem-solving skills भी जरूरी हैं. PG Diploma और M.Tech का सबसे अच्छा उपयोग तब होगा जब आप पढ़ाई के दौरान इन skills को भी मजबूत करें.
Official pathway में M.Tech registration से पहले PG Diploma level के सभी 20 credits complete करना जरूरी है. इसलिए BS Degree के बाद पहले PG Diploma की eligibility और requirements पूरी करनी होंगी.
